Deer in Lebanon? Really!?

“Nice Photoshop skills”, “there are no deer in Lebanon”, “these photos are clearly photoshopped”… are some of the comments I receive whenever I post a photo of a deer on social media.

Rest assured everyone: these photos are 100% real and were specifically taken in Aana – West Bekaa. Thanks to the big efforts and dedication of Mr. Fouad Nassif, the “Lebanese deer” as well as other species such as the Japanese Sika and the Nubian Ibex have been living in peace and taken good care of. They were introduced back to our lands more than 20 years ago and since they now thankfully live away from humans and predators in a vast and protected area, their population is thriving year after year and they are now over 150 deer.
